How we work

We use the Signal app to communicate within the team. If you don’t have Signal, you will need to install it on your phone.

We have a number of working groups which usually meet once a week on Signal. Once your application is approved, normally by the coordinator(s) of the group(s) you want to join, we will add you to the relevant group(s) on Signal.

The working groups are:

• 📢 Communications Working Group
  Mandate: social media, website, messaging, communication strategy and outreach. Works closely with the campaign and outreach group.
  Skills required: Social media, writing, translation (EN and SP mostly), graphic design, web design (using WordPress), video editing.
• ⛵Logistics Working Group
  Mandate: Boat procurement, assessment, acquisition and maintenance. Recruitment of crew. Organisation of sailing itineraries.
  Skills required: Sailing (Yachtmaster offshore or equivalent qualification), boat maintenance, mechanic, electricity (12 volts systems), painting, general DIY.
• 💰 Fundraising Working Group
  Mandate: Launching a crowdfunding, grant applications, collecting and disbursing funds.
• 🤝🏽 Campaign and Outreach WG
  Mandate: organizing decentralised actions and partnerships abroad while we are on the sea. Networking with influencers.
• ⛵💛 People & Care Working Group 
  Mandate: welcoming and integrating new members. Caring for our working culture.

How to apply

Please fill out the form below to help us assess your experience, skills and motivation.
We’d particularly like to know:
– Can you help to organize actions on the ground (outreach and impact coordination, useful contacts…)?
– Are you comfortable participating in direct action?
– Do you have experience in communications (social media, press, videography/photography, spokesperson, translation, etc.)?
– Can you provide medical support (first aid, nurse, doctor) or legal support?
– Do you have boating experience? If so, give details
– Do you have access to a boat? If so, what type/size?
– Do you have any limitations (physical, legal, geographical, etc.)?
– Are you affiliated with any organizations we should know about?
